I agree with >100 of my colleagues that SARS-CoV-2 is on the way to becoming endemic, meaning it never stops circulating. But just because elimination is unlikely doesn’t mean we are doomed to an eternal pandemic. nature.com/articles/d4158…

I would highly recommend this informative article from @nature which covers: - the likelihood of COVID-19 becoming an endemic, seasonal virus - why elimination may not be an achievable option for most places nature.com/articles/d4158… pic.twitter.com/iASBw5O4ey

Good article, but not looking forward to people who don't know better using this as an excuse to (continue) to throw their hands in the air. nature.com/articles/d4158…

A good article, and an important reality check. TBH there are two words beginning with E that I find unhelpful (and neither is ‘endemic’) The coronavirus is here to stay — here’s what that means nature.com/articles/d4158…

1/ @nature asked over 100 scientists if they felt that #COVID19 was going to become endemic & circulate on earth for years to come. ~90% felt this was a likely or very likely scenario. Link: go.nature.com/3aquiaw pic.twitter.com/AwEkE4a7I4

Interesting to see nature run with this story, which already is prompting a whole load of misinterpretations of that it is actually saying. Luckily, a few days ago I already prepared a thread... The coronavirus is here to stay — here’s what that means nature.com/articles/d4158…

Fascinating piece with lots of interesting polling of virologists, immunologists and ID experts on the future of SARSCoV2 i.e. Is it here to stay? (sadly I vote yes), and if yes what does that means for the longterm outlook? nature.com/articles/d4158…

A survey of immunologists, virologists & infectious disease researchers by @nature of likely covid-19 futures. A clear majority for a different picture to that of the "beautiful dream" of #ZeroCovid Do media reports in the UK reflect this expert view? 🤔 nature.com/articles/d4158…

A @NatureNews survey shows scientists expect #SARSCoV2 to become endemic, but posing less danger over time. The future depends on acquired immunity, which is why LJI researcher @Dani6020 and her colleagues' work with #immunememory is so vital nature.com/articles/d4158…
