I am, like most Americans, sick of revolving doors & tweeps may know I have published on this topic
You can't take 400k from airbnb and 400k from carnival cruises and then shape policy that impacts their profits
We studied this in a diff context...

@VPrasadMDMPH Is the expectation that, to remain eligible for public service, Murthy would have refused to provide any guidance to the cruise company or would he have done so without compensation? Disturbing that the deciding vote may fall b/c he treated gun violence as a public health issue.
I don't always agree w/ @VPrasadMDMPH, & we've had spirited (but polite & respectful) debates here on this site, but Dr Prasad is IMHO absolutely right to call this out. I'm grateful for his advocacy on this. Earning $2 million as a side gig consulting to companies is a HUGE COI! twitter.com/VPrasadMDMPH/s…

This is pandemic profiteering.
I will be contacting my House and Senate delegation on Monday, and the Biden administration, and urging them to withdraw the nomination.

My thoughts reading this:
1. Why do they even have to go w/ Murthy AGAIN? Is no one else qualified?
2. I don't want to hear him sound off on social determinants of health, when he advised AirBnB--well known for exacerbating housing availability in cities. washingtonpost.com/health/2021/02…

Impressive. I received $250 for my last engagement, although I got to interact with the house staff + med students to discuss their career aspirations. Once I got $7,000 for an invited lecture to a society. But usually it’s in the range from zero to $1,200 washingtonpost.com/health/2021/02…
And I do not take any funds for my television appearances. The good news: I can’t be bought. The bad news: I still haven’t paid off a mortgage and we don’t have a sustainable finance plan for our special needs adult daughter after we’re gone. Gotta work harder on that one.
